Mrs. V's Bullying Presentation

Mrs. V visited our classroom today and we discussed how to recognize bullying and how to deal with bullies. After listening to Mrs. V's dramatic and thought-provoking reading of Mean Jean, Recess Queen, by Alexis O'neill and Laura Huliska-Beith, the students in room 110 proved they had lots of insightful comments to add to this topic. We decided students would continue their meaningful conversation in writing. Students were asked to complete a paragraph describing what they learned from the presentation. Their writing proved just as insightful as their conversation. So, let me introduce you to today's guest bloggers....all the kids in Room 110.

JA#1 "You should treat others the way you want to be treated."
AA#2 "If someone is bullying you say, 'Stop!' in a strong voice. Walk away. The main thing to do is tell an adult."
CC#4 "Treat others the way you want to be treated."
AC#5 "Stand up for yourself. Say stop. Stand tall. Fight bad with good. Walk away. Report to an adult."
LF#7 "Bullies do not treat others the way they want to be treated."
AJ#9 "If a bully is bothering you, you should report to an adult. We learned if a bully is bothering you it takes self-control not to hurt them."
HL#11 "Follow the golden rule."
MP#13 "If somebody is bullying you, use a strong voice and say "STOP!' "
NP#14 "You should kill them with kindess."
TS #16 "Treat others the way you want to be treated. If that doesn't work, walk away. If they keep doing it, just report it to an adult."
OT#17 "You know someone is a bully if they call names."
CV#18 "Kill them with kindess and treat them the way you want to be treated."
AW#19 "Report to an adult."

Thank you, guest bloggers! You did great! And thank you, Mrs. V. We learned a lot!
