Postcards from around the World
I forgot to write this in the Week in Review, but I wanted to let you know that as an extension to our study of geography (hemispheres, continents, countries, states, etc.), the third grade team would like to start a project that we call "Postcards from Around the World." This project is designed to let students investigate places other than Bellevue and the Seattle area. This project requires your help. Anytime you take a trip somewhere, send (or bring) our class a postcard from wherever you are (or you can mail it from home). Ask everyone you know to do the same thing. It would be helpful if the postcard had small tidbits of information about the place it’s from. The students will then research the place the postcard is from. Hopefully, by the end of the year, we will have quite a collection. Please send postcards to your child via our school's address.
So, as you can tell, this is a project that involves as many people as possible. Please pass on the information to everyone you know, especially those who travel a lot. (In the past, some parents have emailed the project information to their entire contact lists!) We will display the postcards on a large map in the hallway near our wing after we've studied about the place it's from. I hope you can help us with this project. We're happy to collect postcards from other cities, states, or countries, so whatever you can provide would be most appreciated. Thanks for your help with this fun and educational project!
