Week Ending October 29

 LITERACY-

  • Drafted paragraphs to describe self-drawn monsters. Descriptions focused on the physical appearance of the monsters. These pictures were displayed on the hallway wall. Descriptive paragraphs were mixed up and placed next to random monsters. Students were tasked with matching the paragraphs to the correct monster.

Revised first drafts using the ARMS strategy.

  • Revised second drafts using the Sentence Stretcher strategy. We selected a short sentence in our writing and rewrote it multiple times, each time adding specific details such as adjectives or prepositional phrases. Then we had four or five options from which to choose to make our writing even better.
MATH
  • Reviewed unit one in preparation for our unit assessments.
SOCIAL STUDIES
  • Explored fall holidays from around the world. Focused on Dia de los Muertos. Made sugar skulls.
