In news that will shock no one, typing a blog is made no easier with  the "help" of a four month old kitten. While Daisy is small enough to hide the whole of her furry body behind the screen of my old laptop, there is no hiding the lightning fast paws that  flash out to attack  my fingers moving tentatively on the keys. Even now, I feel the whipping tail warning me that the next strike is imminent. I did break down and buy her a rather pricey cat tree this weekend She seems to enjoy it, but not as much as she enjoys clawing my typing fingers. And how was your weekend?

Despite the short week, we engaged in a lot of learning this past week.

LITERACY-
  • r-controlled vowels. Words with -ar like the sound in car.
  • Continued to practice Cornell note taking as a strategy to highlight key information in non fiction text.
  • Reviewed the five parts of a personal letter
  • Continued individual reading assessments
MATH
  • Multiplication as equal groups
  • Drawing diagrams to match word problems
  • Multiplication expressions
SCIENCE
  • Investigating the movement of water on a slope

SOCIAL STUDIES
  • Guest speaker, our school counselor, Mrs. V introduced the Mood Meter.
  • Assigned emotion words onto the Mood Meter according to degree of pleasantness and energy.

A big thank you to all of you who have signed up for a conference this week. If you haven't done so yet, please consider doing so now. I look forward to discussing your child's progress with you.
