Homework

Happy 2012, Everyone!  I trust you all had a lovely break and were able to enjoy time with friends and family. Back at school, we have hit the ground running.  Third graders are starting a new unit in literacy.  This week's writing focus is on word choice.  Your children will be writing a descriptive paragraph about an athlete.  They will be using action verbs and picturesque adjectives that appeal to the five senses, sensory words, to describe this athlete as they learn about other famous athletes like Tiger Woods and Michelle Kwan.  Tonight students need to be thinking of an athlete about whom they could write one or two paragraphs.  The athlete may be someone the child knows personally or a famous athlete.  There is no math homework tonight, but students should be reading for at least 40 minutes and studying their spelling words.
