Homework Reminders

It's been a while since we've gone over the homework expectations. I thought you might appreciate a refresher course.  Most students are doing quite well remembering their daily math homework.  Kudos to you all! However, this week nine students forgot to either fill out their weekly reading logs, or to have parents sign them.  The weekly reading logs are an important accountability piece that reinforces the need to practice reading every day.  Indeed, some educators insist that the simple act of reading independently for a determined amount of time each day is the single most important discipline a student can practice in order to improve their overall reading skills.  Please do remember to encourage your child to fill out his or her reading log every night, and then do sign off on the log yourself.  Signed reading logs are due Monday morning.  Additionally, responsibility charts need to be signed off every weekend as well.  These, too, are due Monday morning and are an important communication piece between home and school.  The responsibility charts are a way for you to see how well your child did practicing good learning behaviors throughout the week.  Again, please look for these in your child's folder every Friday and be sure to sign off on the chart.  Your signature is my way of knowing that you have indeed reviewed your child's week.
