Our 20th Annual Young Authors Day proved a marvelous success. Even the weather cooperated for the barbeque picnic. For those of you who are new to this, the Young Authors Conference was divided into three sessions. One session allowed us to watch selected student stories being performed live by the Tyee Middle School drama team. Another session gave students a chance to share their own books in a small group of 8-10 students from all grade levels. A third session took place in the library where Tedd Arnold, the writer and illustrator of such children's favorites as Green Wilma, shared his experiences with the writing process. As you know, preparing for Young Authors Day was a long and laborious process, but this celebration at the end made it all worth it. A special thanks to Mrs. T who spent several hours in our room helping students revise and type their stories, and who took on the grueling process of laminating all those books. Thanks also to all of you who volunteered today to make this such a memorable event for our students.
No math homework or parent journals this weekend. Enjoy the sunshine!
