 It's been a great week of learning. The highlight of the week was the Living Voices performance where students got a chance to travel with young Leah and her family from Russia to Ellis Island in 1907. Students posed insightful comments and asked fascinating questions. 


Students also celebrated another Champion Movie Lunch featuring Minions: the Rise of Gru.




MATH: 

  • Continue practicing rounding numbers to the nearest ten and hundred.
  • Using rounded numbers to estimate sums and differences.
  • Using estimates to judge the reasonableness of an answer.
LITERACY:




  • Spelling- r controlled vowels
  • Grammar-pronoun/ verb agreement, prefixes in, and im, subjects and predicates, past tense verbs
  • Writing- Persuasive writing, using text examples and annotations to draft a well-organized opinion.
  • Reading-Aero and Officer Mike
SCIENCE: Motion and Matter
  • How do magnets interact with other magnets and with paperclips?
  • What happens when more magnets are added?
MISC: 
  • Report cards go home Friday afternoon. Please check your child's backpack.
  • Our Valentines Day party will February 14. More information to follow. Class lists will be sent home Friday.
