April

The kids in room 204 wrote prolifically about their spring breaks. Whether students had a stay-cation, or traveled somewhere, it is clear that they enjoyed their week off. Even more impressively, they kept learning no matter where they spent their days. The highlight of my break was babysitting my cousin's darling daughters while she and her husband took a trip to Orcas Island. Our weekend included lots of drawing time, board games, trips to the Dollar Store, and a bit of binge watching. We watched, "Wie is de Mol?" a popular Dutch reality TV show.

Here's what we'll be learning in the days ahead.

MATH
  • Finding the area and perimeter of quadrilaterals
  • Finding all the possible areas of rectangles with a common perimeter.
  • Finding all the possible perimeters of rectangles with a common area.
  • Solving story problems involving area and perimeter
"We used the distributive property to find the area of a big rectangle. First, we found area of the smaller, yellow rectangle. It was 9 square units. And the green one, which was bigger, was 12 square units. We added 9 square units + 12 square units = 21 square units." ~ Prof # 15
