Picture Day is this Monday. Students, remember to wear big smiles and to brush your hair :-) If students choose to wear dressy shoes for the event, they should remember to bring athletic shoes as well for PE later in the afternoon. We'll be taking class and individual photos.
Our first full of week of school is over and we are smarter than when we started. Here's what we covered this week.
Math: Students are reviewing three digit addition with regrouping (carrying.) We are learning to prove the veracity of our answers by using proof drawings.

Reading: Students reviewed how to select books that are just right for their reading level for independent reading times. We also began our first read aloud of the year, Charlotte's Web. Students practiced writing a specific response to the read aloud in their reading journals. This week the focus was on describing a single, favorite event in the story using examples from the text.
Writing: Students began composing a personal narrative. Most of them completed rough drafts and are now reviewing the steps for revising a draft by changing words and sentences to make it sound even better.
We also hosted our first Choice Time of the year. Students earn Choice Time by turning in ALL their homework for the week AND by returning a signed Responsibility Chart on Monday. Students with incomplete homework attend Homework Club for the duration of Choice Time and work on finishing missed assignments. Please do remember to sign your child's Responsibility Chart :-)
Have a great weekend!
