Mr. Dave

Our beloved custodian, Mr. Dave, retired from his duties after 40 plus years as a custodian more than 20 of which were spent in the Bellevue School District. He spent the last 6 years of his career here at Eastgate. Custodians are often the unsung champions of the school, keeping things shiny, clean and in repair so students can come to a safe environment and focus on the business of learning. What made Mr. Dave such a unique fixture in our school was more than just his ability to keep the cafeteria floors shiny, Mr. Dave brought his own special brand of cheer and affection to the job. Indeed, Mr. Dave's heart for children proved evident to even the most casual of observers. Whether a child was part of "Dave's Crew" helping to tidy up the cafeteria after lunch, or simply a wanderer in need of direction, Mr. Dave always took the time to share a smile and to help. He even took time to help this automotively-challenged teacher diagnose an issue with her pink Barbie Mobile saving her a ton of money on what could've been a costly repair. Mr. Dave, thank you for caring so much about Eastgate students and staff. We know you've got a busy retirement planned ahead, but know that here at Eastgate we'll always carry a soft spot in our hearts for our Mr. Dave!
