"You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think." ~ Winnie the Pooh
Here's what we're learning this week-
MATH:
- Exploring alternative strategies for subtraction with regrouping in order to build our understanding of the standard algorithm.
- Relating expanded form as a strategy to the standard algorithm for subtraction with regrouping.
- Using place value drawings to illustrate and explain our mathematical thinking surrounding subtraction with regrouping.
Here is a video that combines expanded form and place value drawings as a strategy to solve subtraction with regrouping. The instructor does a great job connecting these strategies to the standard algorithm so you can see how they are related.
LITERACY:
- SPELLING-homophones
- PARTS OF SPEECH-nouns vs verbs
- WRITING- Using the OREO acronym as a guide to organize opinion writing
