April 18-22

LITERACY- We enjoyed a week of Young Authors Day writing and typing. Students have been bringing in thumb drives so they can save their rough drafts to work on at home. Students have been revising with peers and with me. Most have a completed second draft and are ready to do some final tweaking for their final copies. We have been using two questions to guide our revision of individual paraphraghs.
- Is my writing clear?
- Does my writing sound like a natural speaking voice?

Students brought home their rough drafts on Friday. Please help your child finish their final drafts. Email on electronic copy to me by May 6th.

MATH- We learned to find the area of polygons by decomposing the shapes into rectangles. We found the area of the individual rectangles and added the sums of the areas to find the area of the polygon.

SBA- With SBA testing right around the corner, we will begin prepping this week. On Monday, we will learn about the reading performance task. We will practice some note-taking strategies using multiple sources.
